Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on academic procrastination and motivation of students with specific learning disorders. The statistical population of the research included male students with specific learning disabilities in the elementary schools of Tabriz in the academic year 2022- 2023. The statistical sample in this research was 30 students with learning disorders who were randomly selected and assigned to two groups. To collect data, the subjects were asked to answer the Solomon and Rothblum's Academic Procrastination Test (APQ), and Vallerand's Academic Motivation Test (AMS). The treatment intervention program based on acceptance and commitment (TPAC) was implemented for the experimental group in 8 sessions of 60 minutes and once a week, for two months. The results of the study showed that the mean scores of participants in the experimental group for the variable of academic procrastination were lower compared to the control group and the mean score of academic motivation in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group at the 0.05 level (P < 0.05). Acceptance and commitment therapy can reduce academic procrastination and increase academic motivation in students with specific learning disability.
